I've spend a lot of time finding beautiful locations for photos in the Des Moines area. See examples below. Please keep in mind, the photos will always turn out differently for each session based on time of year and time of day.

Waterworks Park

Below are photos taken at Waterworks Park. There are tons of spots throughout the park to take photos, and for a short window in the springtime they have one of the world's largest collections of flowering crabapple trees.

Des Moines Art Center - Greenwood Park/Rose Garden

I love this location, it's a beautiful spot, easy to access, and multiple backdrops all close together.

Ewing Park in Des Moines

I love this location! It has a beautiful willow tree that has become one of my favorite spots in Spring and Summer! It also has a paved trail throughout the park, one of the few accessible locations in the area.

Open space in western Urbandale

I love this location because it's a hidden gem. It's super convenient for clients who live in the western suburbs, and is a beautiful spot anytime of the year due to the variety of trees, it's even great for winter sessions!

Campbell Park in Clive, IA

Great spot in town, not too busy with photographers, plus there's a playground, perfect for bribing kiddos to let them play when we're done taking photos.

Urbandale Park - Great in the Winter

This hidden gem is a great spot for winter photos. It's about a 5 minute walk from street parking to this park. There's also a playground which makes for a great spot to bribe kids to get to play at the playground after the session.

Jester Park

This spot isn't too far from the metro and has a variety of backdrops, some are hard to believe are here in Iowa! Jester Park is a great place to explore with tons of hiking trails, a park, and more, so bring a change of clothes and spend the day exploring after your session! Perfect spot year round with a variety of evergreens, other trees, a pond, and more!
